Worst Movies of all Time

Rachel and I went to go see Spiderman 3 with her brother Michael on Sunday. The action was superb, and the story was even pretty good but the dialog left something to be desired and what in the world is with the mini-musical in the middle? The movie could have been an hour shorter without the musical crap and without the cliche dialog lines and it would have been a 10. The movie gets a .1 out of a possible 10. I will say that the Sandman and Venom were awesome but beyond the action with said characters, there’s nothing keeping this movie afloat. I even felt that some of the special effects early on in the movie felt a bit shaky.

As a result, I’ve updated my Worst Movies of all Time list to include:

  1. The Talented Mr Ripley
  2. Citizen Kane (this movie is only good given the context, stand alone its terrible. It makes the worst list because it’s supposed to be such a classic)
  3. Spider Man 3

What makes me really sad is that I didn’t even go into this movie with high expectations and get disappointed like normal. I wasn’t expecting a whole lot and it didn’t disappoint.

I can resist everything except temptation

Snowmobile Club Ride

Sunday Rachel and I participated in a club ride with Canaltown Snowmobilers Inc and a total of 33 sleds. We hit snow in Williamson which made the trails good but the visibility poor. It eventually stopped once We reached the Steger Haus Restaurant. The Steger Haus was our final destination in Sodus for some rest and some drinks. We then proceeded back to the Hosbach’s house in Marion for some Hot dogs and Hamburgers where we met Haley. She’s a very playful and energetic 5 year old retriever. At the end of the day Rachel and I had rode about 60 miles which isn’t bad for riding around home.

Been Busy

Rachel and I are definitely winter people. That being said with the recent onset of winter in Rochester, you’ll understand why we haven’t been posting. We’ve been snowmobiling quite a bit, we tried out snowshoeing a few days ago (and loved it). We’ll also be skiing / snowboarding next weekend.

On top of that, the wedding plans and the remodeling effort… lots of fun but no time.

5 months 4 days and counting

Long engagements are lots of fun. Referring to your man as “My fiancé this and my fiancé that”. Relax; take your time to plan out all those little details. I mean I’ve got a whole year to plan anyways, right? WRONG!

My biggest realization this New Years was “Holy shit I’m getting married in 5 months!” Don’t get me wrong I’m supper excited but 5 months! I mean we do have most of the important stuff done…sort of. I don’t have the jitters about getting married in that there is no doubt, but the planning stuff not so much. I’m definitely not the bridezilla type who has to have everything perfect, jotted down in her little notebook ready to strike fear in the hearts of anyone who mistakenly uses buttercream frosting on her wedding cake instead of whipped. I know how I want things to go down; I’m just not in the planning mood yet. Running around and calling this person and that, where did you put Aunt Millies mailing address, that sort of thing, not my cup of tea. Do you think there are wedding planners who work pro bono?

Clean Slate

Ok so… we’ve tried word press before and never kept it up. This was basically because we tried to be retro-active in posting a bunch of stuff about what we had already done and it was overbearing. We’ve tried blogger but to no avail… Hopefully we can get this site going. We’ll use it as a place for people to know what Rachel and I are up to.

For those of you who don’t know Rachel and I bought a house (duplex) 6 months ago or so. Well… we’ve learned some things since then. Quite a lot in fact.

  1. It’s true what they say. You never really are done. when we bought the house we only had a few things in mind. Since then the list has grown daily
  2. No project is really as small or as easy as you think it is.
  3. You dont really have time anymore.
  4. Old houses are full of surprises.
  5. Insurance companies suck.
  6. Water can cause a lot of trouble.

on to that last one for a second and then i’ll end our first post…

A little less than a month ago we had a pipe break in our ceiling. Wow what a pain. It happened while we were both at work and conveniently enough the only day in months that i’ve forgotten my cell phone. Our tenants came home to about 4″ of water in the basement. They went through some hurdles and finally ended up calling the fire department who promptly came and took care of the problem. This does NOT end our problems however. Since then we’ve pretty much not had a dining room. We’ve got a cracked floor joist, drywall and pipes to replace, flooring to put down electric to run etc etc.

Anyway… that’s all for now. Rachel and I are off for dinner and a movie.
