It’s time. We’re either on our way or already in the hospital. We’ll see you soon, and with a bigger family!

Scariest Moment Yet

A few days ago I experienced the scariest moment of being a parent (so far).
D was ‘helping’ me reinstall some speaker wire connectors and a phone jack. I turned to my right and leaned over to screw in the last screw that holds the speaker wire wall plate on. I finish and turn back to grab the last screw for the phone jack wall plate. Only it’s not there. I look around for a second then look up at D who is smiling at me and between her little lips is a tiny shiny something. I tell her to stop and to spit it out but instead she starts to make a swallowing motion, i envision the tiny screw lodged sidewas in her throat and daddy mode kicks in. I can’t tell you exactly what happened because I honestly don’t know, but I can tell you it ends with my finger buried halfway down her throat holding her, face down, half choking about to puke.
I got it. A few terrified tears and a long hug later and everything was A-OK.
Lesson learned.
A Week Long Adventure in the Mountains
(What do you want, we’re a lot busier now…) A month and 1/2 ago, we spent the week at camp. It was intended to be a 50/50 split of vacation and work and that’s just about what it was.
a few days
We were able to get the rooms framed in and prepped for electric and insulation. Now the real work can begin. Looks like we might just be able to make it usable this winter after all.
On the vacation side of things we had some fun.
-
- Delilah spent some time playing in the stream
- Took lots of four-wheeler rides (and Delilah got hooked)
- Spent some time at the beach at Higley Flow State Park
- Went geocaching and found a really nice new spot very close by along the Raquette River
- Took Delilah on her first mountain climb up Arab Mountain
- Went out for Ice Cream
- Played on the playground (where Delilah learned her new love of old-school metal slides)
- Ate lots of great grilled food (including lots of corn)
- Built Delilah a house out of a large cardboard box
All in all it was a great week. Love getting to spend some quality time with our family.
UPDATE: Since this post was written a month and 1/2 ago and just posted today… more progress has been made on the camp. The insulation and electric work is complete, all corners/windows have been framed with rough cut (and painted) 2×4’s and the siding is going up.

Niagara Falls Anniversary
Not everyone can say they live within two hours of a natural wonder of the world. Fewer still get the chance to visit it on a regular basis. We’ve spent a lot of time at Niagara Falls over the years but there’s a lot we haven’t done there. For our 4th anniversary we went back to spend the day. We went on a journey behind the falls experienced maid of the mist and rode the giant ferris wheel on Clifton Hill for the first time despite having been there probably a hundred times before.
Delilah 6-12 Months
Delilah is a year old now. Well, really a year and 17 days, but with a one year old comes delays…
It’s been a blast, the last few months she’s really become mobile which is tiring but loads of fun.
They really do grow up way too fast and we have no idea where the last year has gone, but we look forward to many hectic years to come.
One Year Later
Almost exactly a year later, we were at Perinton park again. Only this time, not only did we not have the Oregon Onesie with us, it won’t even fit our daughter anymore.

Hard to believe she’s almost a year old. Time pretty much flys by now.
Happy Easter!
Happy Easter from Lilah!

Delilah Video Post
With the little one growing and exploring more and more every day videos are a ton of fun to watch and create now. These are some of the ones I’ve made (all on my iPhone using iMovie) that sort of show her progression. I try to keep them short and to the point so they’re all under 1 minute (& most are under 30 seconds). The embedded Youtube player is a playlist, so I’ll keep adding to it as I upload more videos.
At the time of the creation of this post there are 6 videos to watch in the playlist.

We went to the Sandbox yesterday for a friends birthday. Lilah got to play with a lot of new toys and her favorites were the ride-on types. Besides a dragon and a goose, the laundry basket and an empty box or two it was the first time she’s played with one.
Last night we were tooling around in Wal-Mart and, while I’m generally opposed to buying stuff like this in a brick and mortar store (without a coupon), we happened upon one of the carts that Lilah really liked at the Sandbox. The price was (semi) reasonable so we once again bought something for Delilah on OUR date night. She had so much fun it was hard to resist. The picture above might be solely responsible for the purchase. Just sayin…
This morning she had a blast after we gave it to her. I had just about as much fun making this video.
