My Wife Rules

Star WarsIt was her idea to watch all 6 Star Wars movies in sequence and so we did that recently. Well, we watched the first 3 (chronologically) one day and the last 3 a few days later. It was interesting as I’d never watched them in sequence like that, and I hadn’t watched the new ones since they came out in the theater. I’m positive I’ve never had the experience with my wife, and it was amazing, as she was more glued to the screen than I was and I grew up in love with Star Wars.

What could be better? Star Wars in Concert that’s what.

We’re going to Pittsburgh on the 28th and 29th of November to see Star Wars in Concert for an early Christmas present for the both of us.

It’s gonna be awesome!

  1. Chronologically in movie time or release time?

I watched 1,2,3,4,5,6 and found it to be somewhat anti-climactic because by the time you get to 4 and 5 you already know who Darth Vader is and who the Emperor is. In my opinion the best order to watch them (especially for people who’ve never seen them) is the release order: 4,5,6,1,2,3. But that’s from the perspective of someone who watched them both ways (and who painstakingly watched Memento in movie-time chronological order by fast forwarding and rewinding a LOT).

  2. We watched them based on the movie time-line. (I,II,III,IV,V,VI)

I agree with you a bit, and watching them in chronological order does open up some plot holes and some general inconsistencies. I didn’t talk about that here because I didn’t feel like getting into it. I’m just happy with the general experience, and thoroughly excited for Star Wars in Concert.

What surprised me was that after watching them all again what I thought was the best of the new 3 (Revenge of the Sith, IE: episode III) was HORRIBLE. When I first saw it I just thought the ending was bad, but no, the entire movie is almost unbearable. My favorite of the new ones is Episode II.

My all-time favorite is a toss up between Episode IV and Episode VI. I realize many people like Empire the best, I just never have. I feel like Empire cannot stand alone without Jedi and the only part I really enjoy of Empire is Hoth.
