Apparently I’m the last person on the Net to see this Sony video:

Widget Trouble
I had some trouble finding examples on how to Widgetize your WordPress Theme. I found plenty of links but all were dead. I figured I’d mirror a how-to guide here to make it easier for people to find out how to make their Theme work with WordPress widgets.
First of all you’ll want to put some code in your sidebar.php file to have a default sidebar as well as a dynamic sidebar when available. to do this use something like the following:
<ul id="sidebar">
<?php if ( !function_exists('dynamic_sidebar')|| !dynamic_sidebar() ) : ?>
<li id="about">
<h2>About</h2>
<p>This is my blog.</p>
</li>
<li id="links">
<h2>Links</h2>
<ul>
<li><a href="http://example.com">Example</a></li>
</ul>
</li>
<?php endif; ?>
</ul>
This will enable your site to use a dynamically generated sidebar. Next we need the ability to implement a dynamic sidebar. To do this simply add the following to your functions.php file:
<?php
if ( function_exists('register_sidebar') )
register_sidebar();
?>
Provided you have the Widgets plug-in installed and activated, you should now see a ‘Sidebar Widgets’ section under Presentation in the Admin section of your site.
I am not the original author of this tutorial nor am I a contributor in any way to the Widgets plug-in. If you have questions about the plug-in itself, or this method is not working please contact the author or see the plugin website.

I’m leaving in a few hours for NYC. I’ll be back sometime Sunday and share some of the fun. Until then this video should hold you over:
Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted
After working at Wegmans for so long I’m Customer-Service-Spoiled. I think all consumers should expect a high level of Customer Satisfaction. I regularly read a blog entirely about Customer service experiences with different companies. Recently they posted a message about why you shouldn’t sue your customers. It’s worth a read so check it out.

I’ve always been interested in Genealogy. Tonight I found Geni.
Spring is nature’s way of saying “Let’s party!”

Work the Google on the Internet Machine
Last night I went saw Blades Of Glory with some friends. I give it a 7/10. Lots of good quotes. Some of my favorites:
– you put the bone in zamboni
– Work the Google on the Internet Machine
– Mind-bottling. Like your mind is trapped in a bottle
– It makes my hair shine like the Belt of Orion
Afterward we went downtown. I read this on the wall at O’Callaghans and thought I’d share:
Irish Diplomacy – The ability to tell a man to go to hell in such a way that he looks forward to the trip
Ryan came up with an Idea for Guitar Hero. Not going to mention any details but we may be asking for help from everyone so be prepared.
I just read this morning that Michigan is thinking about spending $38 million to buy all of its students IPods? How freaking crazy is that. I’m all for new an innovative ways to teach, but IPods? I don’t get it. When I took calculus it was required that I buy a Graphing Calculator, the state didn’t buy it for me.
Dan’s Video of the day for Friday: Internet Sys Op. Pretty damn funny if you ask me.
Matt introduce me to the New York State Real-Time Transportation Status site. Pretty slick. I can now check to see if it’s worth leaving work or if I should just wait a while until traffic picks back up.
Check out the video below for an innovative 3D desktop idea or for more info check out bumptop. I think it would work great with the multi-touch panels that have been getting so much press recently.
